King Henry VIII (Henry the Eighth) is ill and is prescribed mirth as therapy by his doctors. Can a troop of 'natural fools' improve his humours?

All The Kings Fools

  • All the King's Fools was a ground-breaking performance performed at Hampton Court Palace in February and October 2011. It was written and performed by The Misfits, a company of actors with learning difficulties from Bristol. They worked with jester and director Peet Cooper of Foolscap Productions to produce a piece that showed how jesters performed in Henry VIII's court.

The work was based on original research which the actors worked on with Dr Suzannah Lipscomb of the University of East Anglia and it was funded by a Wellcome Trust People Award. It was developed with the assistance of Arts Council England.
